TODAY’S GAME: This afternoon, the Bisons take on the Ottawa Lynx in game three of their four-game set from Lynx Stadium ( 1:05 p.m. first pitch). Buffalo will be looking to rebound after falling twice to Ottawa last night despite a pair of late rallies. To do so, the Bisons will start LHP Brian Tallet. Tallet has been very sharp in 2005, limiting hitters to a .194 average in his four starts. He will be opposed by Ottawa ’s RHP Dave Borkowski, who lost to Rochester his last time out (4/24, 7.0IP, 6H, 5R, 5ER). STREAKY SERIES: Dating back to last season, Ottawa has now won the last four games in this series by a combined score of 29-11. Before that, the Bisons had won eight straight against the Lynx, 6/13/04-9/2/04. SEARCHING FOR A “W”: Bisons starter Brian Tallet is still looking for his first win in 2005 despite pitching very well in all four of his starts. The lefty has posted a 2.84 ERA and has not given up more than three runs in any game. Tallet has been able to keep opponents off the scoreboard by allowing just two hits with runners in scoring position (.125, 2-16). TABLE SETTERS: The top two batters in the Bisons lineup are starting to heat up. Leadoff man Brandon Phillips has hit in five straight games (.389, 7-18) with four of his seven hits doubles. Meanwhile, number two hitter John Rodriguez has hit in seven straight (.381, 8-21), with four extra-base hits (2 2B, 3B, HR) and four RBI. CATCHING ON FIRE: Also heating up as April ends is catcher Ryan Garko. In the three games so far this roadtrip, he is hitting .600 (6-10) with two doubles, a triple, two home runs, three RBI and five runs scored. After struggling early, Garko has 11 hits in his last nine games. copyright ©2005 MLN Sports Group LLC. All rights reserved. Republish via RSS granted if all contents including ads are retained.
